NORTH FULTON, Ga. — Gordon Stephenson, a Roswell resident who works with Virtual Properties Realty, has started a program to aid local teachers as they purchase a home, as well as their school of employment.
The Homes for Teachers program was created to reward local teachers for their vital role in the community. Teachers earn savings on real estate commissions, attorney fees, home inspections and a $500 credit towards a home appraisal fee at closing.
Teachers receive a discount up to $1,000 on the commission.
Once the home is purchased, the teacher’s school receives a $200 donation on behalf of the teacher through the Homes for Teachers Realtor.
Teachers, paraprofessionals, principals, assistant principals, guidance counselors, coaches and all other school personnel are eligible for the program. The program is available for school staff in Cobb, Cherokee, Forsyth, Fulton and Gwinnett counties.
Stephenson said the first teacher he assisted through the program, a teacher at Roswell North Elementary School, saved $2700 in commissions and fees through the program when they purchased their new home. In addition, a $400 donation was made to the school.
